What's Mehregan?

Mehregan is a very old festival. It always occurs in October.
Thousands of years ago, the ancient Iranians celebrated Mehregan in honor of one of their greatest gods, Mithra, the Sun-god. Mithra was also the god of contracts and friendship.
Later Prophet Zarathushtra rejected all the false gods including Mithra. But people continued to celebrate Mehregan as the festival of kindness and love.
